Fantastic time at the Trail Life today! Boys got plenty of exercise with a lap running around the church and then got introduced to a new game “Belly, Back, Feet!”
We had a lesson on weapon safety and treating arms with respect. Boys got plenty of range time plinking at box targets with BB guns and a couple different bows. Thank you to all the dads who helped make it a fun night!

Bows & arrows at Trail Life tonight. The boys cut down saplings with saws and hatchets. They carved notches in the wood and tied knots to set their strings. We also learned about poison ivy - leaves of three let it be and hairy vine no friend of mine!

Campout was a success! Rain did not stop these boys from anything. They enjoyed running aroat night, serving hotdogs and venison chili and zipping around on
4 wheelers. Got whooped by the pastor at football. Great time was had by all!
Thank you to Mr Paul Baker, Dave Boysworth, Bill LaRock, Pastor Brown and Bolt Weltner for making it a great day for the boys

Great time learning and using knots and ropes at the Trail Life yesterday. Boys learned the bowline and other knots and the youngers used them to pull each other around on a sled. We practiced lasso wrangling the seesaws and then the boys competed - they are naturals. We put together a tent in preparation for camping next Friday and finished the day with good ole Tug of War

Wonderful weather and plenty of physical exercise today. The obstacle course was the main event - boys raced the course with a buddy to help each other carry the tire - over buckets, on balance beams, through tarped tunnels, over wooden pallets - all on the clock. The challenge was on - to find ways as a team to run it faster. The best time to run the course was 1 minute and 32 seconds!

Great evening at Trail Life! Boys learned how to safely operate tools and put a real dent on the brush overgrowth. Chainsaws, weed whackers, hedge trimmers, loppers and good old fashioned axes. Chopped a few trees down and the boys muscled the trunks and branches away.

Blue forty two! Hut! Hut! Hike!
Tonight the boys played football and worked on building a fire using ferro rods. We cooked and served hotdogs to the boys and shared with the American Heritage girls. Special thank you to Bob Weltner for the cast iron pots for the Trail Life troop!

Boys trekked up and down the steep trails of Morrow Mountain in the freezing cold. They helped each other when someone slipped and pressed on when they were tuckered out. No whining! The boys enjoyed God’s creation and respected others who were on the trails. Very proud of the boys of Trail Life Troop NC - 0116!

Special thank you to Stanly County EMS!
Boys learned about first aid, the tools and equipment and the important work of EMS
in our community.
Boys practiced carrying each other on stretchers and battled it out with pugil sticks. Great time! West Stanly Baptist Church

Monday Night January 10, 2023 we had our first Trail Life meeting of the year and all the boys learned to fold the American flag and also how to carry it. We played capture the flag and then did a flag challenge - who can belly crawl to the other end of the gym the fastest without letting the flag fall to the floor? Finished up with a good ole game of dodge ball! Great time!
